Beauty in the Little Things

As I prepare for my forthcoming exhibition in June, I am reminded of the immense privilege it is to work in dementia care. I meet people daily who've had fascinating lives and done amazing things.

I've called the exhibition 'Beauty in the Little Things' as I am capturing the little things that are of great importance to these people. The little things that make a big difference. The things that give people with dementia a sense of purpose.

Using paper, wire, fabric, photos, thread, metal and ink I am creating 25 small square collages. Along with these I have designed three oversized necklaces to explain part of my walk with those people I have met who suffer with dementia.  I seek to to have a creative approach to dementia care and actively challenge the notion that nursing homes are 'God's waiting room'.
